Begad Egypt's Next Top Model

It seems that all the crimes observed are those concerning ripping off ideas which seems to us that we have an epidemic in the Arab World. How hard is it to come up with an original name for a competition and a logo design instead of blatantly stealing the work of others. We still don't understand what this is exactly, apparently a modelling competition, we don't know whether it will be televised like its international counterpart or not, but we highly doubt that Tyra Banks has given this project her seal of approval. Bas don't worry, we will keep an eye on all parties involved and update you with any further fashion crimes.

Fashion Recycling???

We have a story to tell. In the most cosmopolitan city in the Arab world, there exists a lifestyle magazine that claims to have been around for over 30 Years, with an international celebrity on every cover. This certain publication has developed a revolutionary new concept that solves every magazines problems, just recycle fashion images. Why bother producing your own photo shoot when you can just feature your favorite international celebrity on your cover by reusing images that were produced over a year ago by world class international publications. Leh Ya Hany #1

The most famous Egyptian fashion designer is unfortunately a repeat offender and will probably be featured on this blog repeatedly. Here is just a taste of why 'Leh Ya Hany' will probably be a regular feature.

Toufic Araman VS Sixty Nine VS Ladybird

So the first question that comes to mind after the laughter in our heads settles down is 'what were they thinking?', followed by 'can they really do that?' Ya3nee da 7ata 3eeb awi. But lets leave emotions aside for a sec and think of this logically, we are aware that every photo shoot, editorial or campaign are researched and it is natural to take inspiration from other peoples work, but where do we draw the line. Is this a case of being inspired by another artists work or is this what we writers call Plagiarism. And if this is a case of plagiarism who is at fault, is it the creative director for relying too heavily on it as reference images, the photographer for not adding their own flavor, the companies that funded these attempts. In the writing world there is a saying 'copying from one source is plagiarism copying from many sources is research'. What do you think?
